About Us
Redefining how mission-critical systems are integrated.
Who We Are
Spacebackend was founded by engineers who have built global products, cloud architectures and guided lunar landers. With over 50 years of collective experience across Google, IAI, SpaceIL, and iSpace, our team spans Luxembourg and Spain. We built Spacebackend because we saw a fundamental disconnect in the industry: while aerospace and defense hardware is advancing rapidly, the software infrastructure required to integrate and command it is lagging decades behind. We bring the rigor of deep-space engineering and the scalability of modern software architecture together to build systems where reliability is non-negotiable.
Our vision
Our long-term roadmap is built around a vision of an efficient, autonomous ecosystem where multi-vendor hardware from terrestrial robotic and defense systems to spacecraft and lunar assets can interoperate autonomously. We are building toward a reality where integrating a new robotic asset, sensor, or satellite payload is as seamless as deploying a software update, enabling true autonomous cooperation across Earth, Orbit, and the Moon.
Our mission
Before the industry can achieve manufacturer-agnostic autonomous interoperability, it must solve an immediate crisis: getting multi-vendor hardware systems and components integrated and communicated together without years of delay. Our current mission is to automate the translation of complex hardware specifications into flight-ready software, collapsing integration timelines from years to days. By replacing manual engineering with automated, deterministic precision, we are building the essential runway for the future of space industrialization.
Problem we are solving
Today, the greatest threat to modern mission-critical systems isn’t hardware failure, its integration schedule collapses. The process of making complex systems work together reliably, is fundamentally broken, costing the industry millions in budget overruns and years of delayed deployments.
What we stand for
Reliability above all
The systems our customers build cannot fail. Neither can the software they use to build them. We hold our products to the same standard we hold mission-critical hardware.
Engineer in the loop
AI handles the complexity of interpreting ambiguous hardware documentation. But every output is fully observable, controllable, and engineer-approved before it moves forward. Automation does not replace judgment; it amplifies it.
Built for the long term
Every product decision we make is oriented toward the vision. We are building a platform for the next space era, not just the next release cycle.
Openness and interoperability
The space industry advances faster when its tools can communicate across systems, suppliers, and platforms. We build with open standards and contribute to the ecosystem.
How we got here
